Coming to work in a new country can be a little scary, but we’ve helped hundreds of people settle into new careers in Scotland. To make things a little easier for you, here are the answers to some of the questions you might have.

FAQs

What paperwork do I need to work with you?
None – just proof of your right to work in the UK like your passport or a copy of a visa.  We’ll also help you to apply for a National Insurance number once you get here (something everyone needs to be able to work, get paid and open a bank account in the UK).

Do you have anywhere for me to stay?
We have over 200 employees living with us in our staff accommodation across our three sites. There are 129 beds in Crieff, 22 in Peebles, 51 in Ballachulish and 39 at Kingshouse Hotel.

You’ll need to pay a small fee for your room from your wages and this includes heating, electricity and three meals a day. We also have a social club for our employees in Crieff so this is a great place to go to meet other team members.

Do I need to be fluent in English?
It certainly helps to do your job and enjoy life here. We know many people come to work with us to improve their English so you don’t have to be fluent. You must be good enough to have a conversation and we’ll help you improve from there. Some of our team members combine studying English at college with working so you would have that option available to you as well.

How will I be paid?
We’ll help with the paperwork you need to open a bank account as soon as possible. You’ll be paid cash in the meantime until you have a UK bank account.

How long can I work for you?
If you have the right to work in the UK, you can stay for as long as you like.  We have some team members who come and work for one season and others who stay with us and move to work in different departments or are promoted to more senior jobs within their hotel.
